Day of Infamy, the WWII FPS enters the Beta phase with a big update

By - | Views: 6,917
Day of Infamy [Steam] is now in Beta and it came with a rather big patch. The game has a Linux version, but it's not officially advertised just yet.

If you don't remember, this is the new game from New World Interactive who made the Insurgency FPS. It's powered by Valve's Source engine and it's currently in Early Access. It was originally a full-conversion mod for Insurgency, but Day of Infamy became a whole game so they split it.

The new update came along with a video:

Highlights of the update:
- New stats system and player Profile menu.
- Progress shown at the end of the round and in your player profile.
- New ranking system.
- Rank designation is visible on characters in the game.
- New Unit system: Units are Steam Items which can be collected ingame and traded on Steam. Units change the way you appear ingame, each having a unique aesthetic look and appropriate insignia. In the future they will be unlockable using the game’s ranking system.
- New maps
- New game modes
- New weapons
- Performance improvements

Linux is like that movie 'Field of Dreams' developers just need to build it and the user base will grow/appear. I wish BETHESDA understood this, it would be a major game changer for them to release ports of their games on Linux (native would be preferred)
