Aspyr Media Are Teasing A New Game, They Promise Many Penguin Smiles

Aspyr Media have been extremely busy it seems, as they have just sent off code to bring Civilization Beyond Earth up to the same patch level as Windows. The bigger news is they have been teasing a new port.

I know what it is (I’m allowed to say that, trust me I checked first!), and no amount of drowning me in rum or fattening me up with cake is going to make me break. You will love it though, and Aspyr’s commitment to our platform is something truly awesome.

There’s this particular post on reddit that will get a lot of Linux gamers wondering, and it’s where this teaser comes from:
Aspyr_BlairAgreed...been a little quiet lately. Mostly because its all hands on deck for one game...and I mean ALL HANDS.
Of course I will not be giving it away (wild speculation is too much fun), but lets just say its a game that has been asked for literally thousands of times. It's also personally one of my favorite games of all time.
I can promise there will be many penguin smiles out there.

I’ve requested Samsai to do a special live stream when it is released, so we can bask in his glory. Or watch his failure, either’s good.

Begin the guessing game, and join me in riding the hype train. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Quoting: iMicqSo, It's Mortal Kombat X? :D
I highly doubt that any Mortal Kombat game would be someone's favourite of all time.
If it's a fighting game, it would have to be Tekken. The new Tekken is using UE isn't it?

I installed GTAV yesterday and although I've managed to play only an hour and I know chances are less than slim - I so much hope for Linux gamers that this gets ported because the game is brilliant. This is going to be a very strong year for gaming in general. In less than two months we got Pillars of Eternity, Cities: Skyline and now GTAV, each of them an instant classic in its genre. Might I dare say, this may be a new '98 for PC gaming?

Guys... read the previous messages before to post.
The game ported by Aspyr is NOT GTAV ...

Iriguardless of these get shit pants with excitement teasers that developers still insist on (wich I loath with a passion) did they give any ideas on when what ever said game will be announced/realised?

Quoting: subI don't care what game it is.

As long as they're not fixing that bloody BL2 port to run on a Phenom II + HD 7950 (and similar configs),
I won't buy any other game from them. At least give feedback on the matter. What's stopping you from fixing it? Maybe there is a good reason. But just assuming it's AMD's fault would be cheap.

I'm playing the original windows version which runs fantastic on the same system!

These companies make it difficult to completely switch to Linux.

It's nobody's fault, but the fix will require AMD's help. The ball is in their court now.

The good news? This title will have full GPU support across NVIDIA/AMD/Intel

Thanks for the reply!

Sorry for being harsh, but stating this much earlier would have been fine for me.
Or did I miss it?

"intel/AMD not supported" could also mean: In principle it would be possible for us
to optimize the port for AMD/intel but compared to NVidia it is just too much work to pay out.
And to be honest, I thought it was exactly this...

I bought many games ported or released to Linux just for the sake
of supporting the developers/porters/platform. However, recently I'm waiting for
tests and user feedback in particular related to AMD systems.
I'm happy to be your customer again if the games work fine with AMD. :)

You havent missed it, and your totally valid for being upset. We've been really quiet about it...and so has AMD. The truth is, we are not driver devs and the issues are beyond our knowledge base (notice the game runs flawlessly on AMD with our OGL code on OSX). We need their help.

All fine, thanks for clarification! :)
That really helps!
