Update: They released this out of beta now, here's the changelog (see all here):
  • Balance changes
  • Several stability and queue system improvements.
  • Fixed Magistrate and Curator damage to properly deal 200 damage on Guts Berserker.
  • You can no longer cancel reload animation with shooting with Tormentor, Mohawk and Piledriver (causing an “infinite” ammo effect). They are now automatic and have had their reload speed adjusted to maintain a similar balance they had before this fix.
  • Pistols no longer bypass draw animations. This was done to refrain macro usage.
  • Fixed some Assault Rifle’s GLs doing less damage than intended.

Ballistic Overkill [Steam], the fun and cheap online FPS that recently added Vulkan support now has an opt-in beta for you to try. The developers say it's aimed at improving performance.

If you want to try it, you need to enter the password "4qu1risb137v1" in the Steam beta section for the game, then select the beta option that appears in the dropdown.

Here's what they said:
QuoteThis build contains fixes for the game freezing issue when the match ends (that makes you get no XP from matches) and several performance improvements. So if you constantly face that bug or have FPS issues, please help us test it!

They are requesting feedback on their discord. Although the channel they asked for feedback in seems to be hidden, so they likely need to adjust the permissions. Alternatively, use their Steam forum.

Also, if you're having black-screen issues, you can set one of these launch options on Steam which makes it work again:

One for Vulkan
-screen-fullscreen 0 -screen-width 1920 -screen-height 1080 -force-vulkan
Or OpenGL
-screen-fullscreen 0 -screen-width 1920 -screen-height 1080 -force-glcore
It's a Unity bug affecting multiple titles, hopefully it will be solved properly soon. (Edit: Unity has now fixed this bug, hooray!) Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I've subscribed the beta channel, but I still cannot switch to Vulkan. Ballistic Overkill itself didn't even updated to a newer version.

I had this bug during Ballistic Monday, now it's resolved in the beta... thanks for the tip!
