The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker [Steam, Official Site] sees you as a psychiatrist trying to solve a murder. The unique thing here is that the game is played out through various actors using FMV (full motion video).

It's an awesome idea and the reviews are reasonably positive. The developer is currently in the process of porting the game to Linux. You can follow their progress on this Steam forum post, where they seem to be having issues but they're pressing on regardless. The latest update as of two hours ago was this:
QuoteWe've just made it past the 'getting Steam working on Ubuntu' phase and getting a black screen from TIMODD so we can start debugging now :-)

I love the determination they are showing.

Something I would be very interested to try out for sure, what do you think?

Thanks for the tip Cybolic. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Sounds very interesting. I like the idea of the game!

Seems most of the negative comments are about the ending and the mechanics.
Apparently the words to advance the game feel like the old adventure trope of rub everything on everything else.

Hope that's not the case , but look forward to see it on stream one day ;-)

I love Full Motion Video games, but those I have are older Windows games that I play under Wine (like the Zork games and the Command and Conquer games). I expect this was a lot easier to make, as I assume it does not use green-screen techniques. As a game it looks a lot of fun, but I am not sure of its replay appeal, unless it has multiple endings.

Now I wish I hadn't watched Jesse Cox and Dodger's lets play of this. I might still get it as it had multiple endings and the killer is random.

Also, the acting in this is *kisses tips of fingers* magnifique! Jaya is the freakin best, I hope she doesn't wind up being the killer in my game. That would break my heart. #NotMyJaya

Well, after watching their playthrough of Contradiction, I can't blame you, it was the loveliest experience.

Glad to see this is coming to Linux, looks like my kinda thing.

Absolutely. Jesse and Dodger's Let's Play of Contradiction is still my favorite Let's Play of all time. Their Let's Play of Dr Dekker was not quite as amazing, but still awesome nonetheless. Dr Dekker has some great characters, but no one quite as magnificent as Emperor Paulpetine.

. . . So this is an x-rated game? ;)
