Blizzard apparently bringing a game to Linux this year

Get your pinches of salt ready as this news comes hot off the...Phoronix press and you know what his news is like when it comes to over hyping things up and giving dates that are a couple years wrong...

Apparently Blizzard will be bringing a game to Linux this year but no hints as to what title it could be. It seems it will be another "Ubuntu first" title so we can probably expect a lot more Ubuntu exclusives in the future.

Will be interesting to watch this one play out. I for one hope it is Starcraft 2 as I am very fond of that game and it will be really good to have a first class RTS out for Linux. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

FTFY.

More seriously, I couldn't care less. Blizzard, eh? Not a cash cow, sorry. Plus they can stick their DRM where the sun doesn't shine.

Yeah i've no doubt other Distro's will find ways around Ubuntu stuff to get them to work and probably always will find a way!

What is Blizzard DRM like then? The last Blizzard title I have played is Warcraft II. :P

Works a lot like Steam basically.

Why is it that the more developers a studio has, the more scared they are of multiple Linux distros?

Because the odds increase no one will listen to the one in the corner saying "just go with tgz and be done with it, dammit"?

Or a MojoSetup installer.... or a NixInstaller... or just like what everyone else has done.

How much trouble has multiple distros done to HIB? I can not think of that much problems that were distro specific.

I hope for WoW or Starcraft 2

Erm... Nope. Steam has this thing called "offline mode". Go try that with Diablo III. :/

I don't like it that they use it as 'testballoon'.
I think at this point Linux is just getting hyped, the real playercount is going to rise in the next months. If Blizzard would use the figures we now have they might decide that it's not worth it and after that never return.

Is it worth it guys? Are we there yet?
