After spending quite some time in Early Access, the vertically-focused neighborhood builder is now officially out.

Block’hood [Official Site] is about building different types of of structures and integrating them together block by block. It’s somewhat different than most building sims in the sense that most development is vertical, with things stacked on top of each other. Managing resources and how things connect to one another is part of the main challenge.

You can read Liam’s thoughts on the Early Access version here, if you’re interested. The full release has added a 5-chapter story mode as well as a range of optimizations and balance tweaks. It certainly does look like an interesting change from the more traditional builder-type games. Not only because of its blocky but clean visual style but because of how you’re supposed to play the game.

History, sci-fi, technology, cooking, writing and playing games are things I enjoy very much. I'm always keen to try different genres of games and discover all the gems out there.

Oh and the name doesn't mean anything but coincidentally could be pronounced as "Buttery" which suits me just fine.

I'll probably buy it. But I'll probably suck at it like a vacuum cleaner.

It is fun, got about halfway through the challenges before stopped playing, but don't remember which ones I have done any more. As for the story, it seems to need the "LC_ALL=C %command%" override.
