Bridge Constructor Portal has been officially announced today, this next title will blend together the well known engineering from previous games with Portal. The title is being developed by ClockStone Software and published by Headup Games, who also did the previous Bridge Constructor titles.

I have it confirmed directly from the press information that Linux will be fully supported, which is fantastic news! It will officially release December 20th, which is quite surprising given it's only just been announced.

Here's what they said about it:

For the last year we've been secretly working in our underground labs on the next iteration of the million-selling Bridge Constructor series. This new stand-alone title will release on PC, MacOS, Linux, mobile devices, and console, and fully embraces the Portal license, one of the most beloved video game franchises of the last decade.

Bridge Constructor Portal will blend the laws of structural engineering and technology straight from Aperture Laboratories into an exciting new game experience, all under the demanding gaze of GLaDOS.

I have to admit, I'm quite excited by this. I'm a huge Portal fan and mixing these two games together really could be hilarious.

Quoting: tuubiDid you actually enjoy the originals? I only played the first one and thought it must be the least fun bridge building game I've ever tried. I can't remember names, but there are free flash games around that do it better.

I do like how this one looks and I just love Portal, but I'll have to see a few reviews before I even consider having it on my wishlist.
Yeah, they're fun for a few minutes at a time, they're not the sort of games I would play for hours & hours without stopping though, they're definitely worth having, ignore the reviews that say otherwise.

Well, not quite; Valve's not involved with it as far as we know so far, they've just let ClockStone Software license the Portal IP.

I haven't really been interested in the bridge constructor games before (at least, not interested enough to actually get any, I've watched a video or two) but this looks pretty fun.

I have bridge constructor, and I have portal. Both are good games, but those two together? we'll see...

I think that they only licensed the rights to do a portal game from valve.
