Cardinal Quest 2 is a turn-based hack 'n' slash adventure. In other words, it's a streamlined roguelike - one with no silly learning curve, no pages of spoilers, no fussy inventory management. It's a quick, accessible game - but still a murderously complex and lethal one, with both procedurally generated levels and permadeath.

Cardinal Quest 1 was released in 2011 by Ido Yehieli. Ruari O'Sullivan did some work with him on the later versions, refining the design and adding a save game feature amongst other improvements. In January, Ruari took over development and began work on a full-blown sequel. This sequel is currently the subject of a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, collecting money for an art upgrade and expanded development.
While it currently uses adobe air, they will hopefully be dropping that in the future *I spoke to the creator of number 2 and he plans to make it native on the full release*, a massive pain though which is a shame as that for Linux users puts a big downer on a great game.
Sidenote: Cardinal Quest 1 no longer needs adobe air, so go buy and play it while we all wait for number 2, great game :) Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

never did get adobe air to run, must admit I did not try very very hard, but was enough to skip Cardinal Quest 1. With more and more Linux games showing up these days skipping a game because it's hard to setup becomes easier and I notice I do it faster then lets say 2-3 years ago.

You can install and use Adobe AIR 2.6 on Ubuntu and other distributions with this [URL='http://askubuntu.com/questions/87447/how-can-i-install-adobe-air']guide[/URL]. It worked for Botanicula when it was available as .air file and works for other programs.
For example it works for [URL='http://www.anodynegame.com/']Anodyne[/URL] it's a game in development listed on Steam [URL='http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92921739']Greenlight[/URL] and there is also [URL='http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92701947']Incredipede[/URL] though it doesn't have a demo version so i don't know how well will it work.

While Adobe Air games are a bit buggy on Linux, they run and install fine.
On other note, you can get the first Cardinal Quest for $4 with other good games from here : http://www.gamersgate.com/indiefort-bundle
I'm not sure of the version they provide, but if it's Adobe Air, you can run it as "native" on Linux.
