Casual puzzle game 'Snakebird Primer' is out with Linux support

Posted by , | Views: 6,321

For those who like their sweet casual puzzle games, Snakebird Primer has released today with Linux support.

This is actually the second Snakebird game, although Snakebird Primer seems to be aimed at helping introduce you to the first game as the developer says:

The snakebirds are back, this time yellowbird joins the team on a more relaxed island with easier puzzles. A casual puzzle game for the entire family as well as a primer for the serious challenges of the original game.

Featuring all new puzzles on a bigger island, new places to explore, more bird, more fruit, more everything.

Have a look at their trailer to see what to expect:

Snakebird Primer does look very charming and colourful, looks like pretty fun puzzler. Our contributor Flesk took a look at the original some time ago and seemed to quite like it. Others liked it too, as it's sat with a "Very Positive" user rating on Steam so if it's more of the same it should do reasonably well.

You can find it on Steam.

liamdaweHmm odd, can't test myself as I don't own it, could be a Mesa bug?

Your guess is as good as (or probably better than) mine! I'm probably due for some updates, could give that a try. Other games (including the original Snakebird) run fine on here, though.

Thanks to a gift, I can confirm it is indeed missing the Steam API file. I've emailed the developer and pointed them to the Steam topic.

I loved the first one, but I can't finish it, it's the hardest puzzle game that I played...

Still not fixed after 10 days? Going to have to refund this game then. Sad, but completely game-breaking bugs are totally unacceptable. At least LOAD the game up on other platforms to play test them. It's not like Linux isn't free.

The developer told me they were hoping to have a patch out by the end of the week, sadly it seems that was missed but they are on it.

Great to hear, thanks a ton as always for your great work Liam, and thanks Noumenon Games for the excellent game and for fixing it once that happens!

Snakebird is one of my favorite games! :3

A patch is out, fixing the launching but there's other issues. I've let the developer know.

Yeah the game now loads after the patch, but the game screen is completely white. The company logo and menu are not visible.

Yay for progress at least! :3

Sad to see there's not so many people that know about this game. Acutally, gamers are still more interested in replaying Portal 2 for whatever reason (proof: rawg.io/games/linux/puzzle).

Are they really, though? Valve controls Steam, and Steam always says their games are the greatest and most played. Coincidence? Not denying their games are great, though.
