Another month, another set of stats showing that Linux desktop seems to be doing better than ever. According to Statcounter, the Linux share has risen once again.

Another month down and we can see that the Linux desktop user share is continuing to rise and not just on the recent Steam Survey.

Well it finally happened. According to the latest Steam Hardware & Software Survey for July 2023 we can see that Linux users have overtaken macOS.

Do my eyes deceive me? Apparently not. According to Statcounter, the Linux share on the desktop has actually now passed 3% for the first time.

The latest Steam Hardware & Software Survey is out for June 2023, and it shows just how much the Linux share is now influenced by the Steam Deck.

After some recent weirdness where March saw a big drop, the Steam Hardware & Software Survey for May 2023 is now showing the Linux share at a multi-year high.

After waiting a while to see if Valve issued any corrections, it seems that the latest Steam Hardware & Software Survey for March 2023 is staying as it is, with a huge surge of Simplified Chinese.

Well this is a fun statistic, it seems Linux has become a fair bit more popular than macOS on the Stack Overflow Developer Survey for 2022.

December 2022 results are in for the Steam Hardware & Software Survey and overall the Linux share is down but the overall trend is still good.

November is over which means a fresh Steam Hardware Survey, and it continues the trend we've been seeing with the Linux user share rising and now it's bigger than ever.

The latest Steam Hardware & Software Survey is out now for September 2022, with it showing that clearly the Steam Deck with SteamOS is the most popular way now to game on Linux.

After 7 months of seeing the Linux user share on Steam continue to grow, December saw 2021 end with it dropping slightly.

I think we can now firmly say that we are the 1%? Another month is down as so the latest Steam Hardware Survey numbers are out and it continues being very positive for Linux gaming.

Something magical appears to be happening on Steam. Not only is Linux above 1% for another month but we've now seen 6 months of it continuing to rise.

I still can't quite believe it but the Linux user share on Steam has not only remained above 1% for three months, it's actually risen again.

We don't usually comment directly on the Steam Hardware Survey every month, not unless it's something real interesting and this is the second month where it is because we're still officially above 1%!

The day I'm sure many have been waiting for, and just as many probably thought it wouldn't happen. Linux has finally hit 1% again on the Steam Hardware Survey.

After initially showing the decrease as an increase, it seems Valve have now corrected the Steam Hardware Survey results for October 2018.

Valve have put up their usual monthly survey and the interesting thing for us is that the Linux share is the highest it's been for some time now.
