It has been pointed out in our Telegram chat group (thanks Kithop) that Aspyr Media have said on Steam that Civilization VI has entered final testing for Linux.

See this post:
Aspyr MediaThanks for the support! We are testing the FC now, so with luck it will be very soon.

FC = Final Candidate.

For those who have me on Steam, you probably noticed Civilization VI pop up on my account as I've done some testing on it myself, as has GOL contributor BTRE. I won't be saying anything on it until release.

I will say, that I will do a livestream on the day of release. I don't personally know the exact date, so don't ask.

It seems it will also get a sale when it release for Linux. One user asked them not to put it on sale, as they want to support them at full price, to which Aspyr replied with:
Aspyr MediaHate to disappoint...but Aspyr/2K will be rewarding Linux users for their patience ;)

Are you excited? Will you be picking it up? Let me know in the comments. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

For Beyond Earth the workaround is to set terrain texture to minimum, even on a GeForce 970 (w 4 GB VRAM and 1600x900 res). Otherwise they're simply invisible...

However on my GeForce 1070 w/ 8 GB VRAM I can set terrain texture to maximum. Looks like they do have a bug in their graphical memory management.

Now, frankly, CivBE is not a great game. And the add-on, while allowing to put cities on water, destroys the diplomacy so, basically, it sucks. And on this point it is not Aspyr's fault. Btw did not have any crash, "just" the texture bug on terrain.

That's not true : Beyond Earth is working fine here (1680 x 1050 | GTX-960 4Go | AMD X6 24Go | Gentoo) without bugs (I've got the DLCs).
I'm waiting for Civ6 too !

Bracing my wallet, I put some money aside for this :D
Thanks Aspyr!

But looks like my PC will need an upgrade in the meantime. Don't be too eager to release to quickly :)

Civilization 6 Final Release Candidate GOTY Anniversary Redux Special Edition or whatever, I'm coming for you.

Probably should, a lot of people seem not to like Civ:BE. I don't mind it, although it's no Alpha Centauri. As to crashes and such, it crashes almost immediately on my desktop but runs fine on my laptop--both running Mint. So, hardware related presumably.

It's great we are getting another good linux game.

I dont think I'll be picking this one up though. As great as it is, I have been relatively disappointing in the AI yet again (played it with friend's copy via steam sharing). Too predictable, too easy to goad into attacking you, too prone to random changes in mood. It's the same bi-polar/ADHD attitude that the civ v and BE AI had (no offense to anyone suffering from these.)

It still, to this day, seems like the AI thinks it is in Civ IV, complete with unit stacking.
