Ahead of a release that will be "Soon!", the comedy cosmic horror adventure Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventure has a new trailer and the Steam page is now live.

Yet another game that was successfully funded on Kickstarter, also one that seems it will keep the promise of Linux support too since the developer got in touch with us directly to point it out. They even joined our Discord as well, so that was pretty fun to see.

Gibbous is a comedy cosmic horror game - a modern adventure that is classically inspired, features gorgeous HD art, detailed traditional animation, and a lengthy story that will see the three protagonists travel around the world and deal with abominations both cosmic and human-made, voodoo, and Things That Should Not Be. From Lovecraft Country to Transylvania, set off on a quest to get a very cynical cat to stop talking.

Anyway, they don't seem to have an exact date for release yet but they have a Steam page finally up, as well as this sweet trailer:

Oh boy! This looks like it could be a serious amount of fun. Some great voice over, lovely animated art and an amusing setting.

The GOG link only leads to a wishlist, it's not actually going to be on GOG yet by the looks of it.

Backed it, they had a Linux demo from the start and I liked the style they had going :)

It's been a real passion project for them and I hope it does well after the countless extra hours they've put into it.

I always feel a bit sceptical when it comes to "Comedy Adventures". Not really sure why, since I did love the "Monkey Island" games and most other Lucasarts adventures as well, not to mention the recent "Thimbleweed Park". Maybe it´s because comedy that fails to be funny, is much worse than horror that fails to be scary or a mystery/adventure that fails to be very mysterious/adventurous.

Anyway, I´ll overcome this predjudice by buying this game!

Reading Lovecraft was where I first became aware of the word 'Gibbous'(also 'beetling' which I mention here only because I like to say it), so I imagine that the devs of this parody are intimate with his work. Straight, so called, 'Lovecraftian' games almost universally fail to convey the deeply unsettling 'otherness' of Lovecraft's world, but I could see a parody set in a Lovecraftian setting being wildly enjoyable, especially to the fan of good 'ol H.P..

Gonna have to keep an (unseen and blind, soul-withering) eye on this one.
