Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is actually a really great game, and we had a lot of fun playing it a while back on a livestream. One thing I've seen people moan about is the sound options on Linux, so it looks like Valve has taken steps to address that.

Taken from their changelog:
Quote[LINUX]
– Upgraded to newer version of libSDL.
– Improved game performance during the end of match scoreboard.
– Sound options now distinguish between headphones vs two-speakers options.

They also updated the models of the first-person arm, hands and gloves. So, that's something. I don't think the new models look all that much better from their before-after shot, but I might be in the minority on that. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Actually, the libSDL update has messed with the mouse input and made the game practically unplayable for lots of people. See also: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Counter-Strike-Global-Offensive/issues/570 and https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Counter-Strike-Global-Offensive/issues/574

I noticed the mouse was slower, so a increase in mouse sensibility. But yeah, didn't look the same as before, but is not unplayable, at last to me.

I wish they fix the sound problems in L4D2. Every time it resets to 5.1 and it do not work in my system. The rear speakers didn't emite sound. CS:GO got surround sound just right for a while now.

I noticed that my mouse ignores some movements when I make complex moves. So move right, left, right then quickly back to the left and the last left move is completely ignored. It was as if I had lifted my mouse a foot from the mat during the last movement. Happened a few times after the update.

Every single Valve game has problems with sound under Linux. I had several problems like infinite loops, hiccups, and cracklings with Portal2, L4D2 and CS:GO.
I wonder if they ever played the games they ported to their own operating system (steamos)...

Didn't meet any such problem playing through Portal, Portal 2 and Portal Stories: Mel or when trying other Valve games (HL 1 & 2, TF2, ...)

It must be a problem with Ubuntu then. But judging from steam forums I'm not alone and Valve games are the only ones I have sound problems with.

Used to be super competitive in the game... But I haven't played in ages and just don't feel the need to go back.

I had some problems with my mouse on CS:GO aswell, fixed it by setting mouse settings to default.
