Day of Infamy the popular WWII mod for Insurgency is being turned into a full source engine powered game by itself.

It's going to start off in Early Access for Windows & Mac in July, with a SteamOS/Linux version due later in the year.

A shame we are getting another game with a delay, but the Insurgency port is actually really quite good, so I have no doubt Day of Infamy will be a good Linux version when it arrives.

Having a proper WWII shooter on Linux is going to be pretty awesome.

What do you guys think to this? Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I haven't tried this yet, but I'm a sucker for WWII FPSs.

I recommend trying the mod... It's really fun. Plus it's on the workshop so it's brain-dead simple to get/use.

Seriously though, as a big fan of Insurgency I am hyped for that. I don't think that New World ever disappoints.

Actually even Medal of Honor: Allied Assault is still playable if you can tolerate the sound issues...

it funny because insurgency itself became a standalone as it was (and still is) a hl2 mod
now the same it's happening with Day of Infamy..

I have more than 300 hours with Insurgency, it's a great game, also thanks to the DOI mod that gives you another feeling if you get a bit bored of the terrorist vs "good guys" scenarios

I'm really interested in this standalone, let's cross our finger for a good Linux port (sometimes i have problems with Insurgency)
