Ahead of the full release tomorrow, Dead Cells the excellent RogueVania developed by Motion Twin has a sweet animated trailer and new features.

First up, feast your eyes on the animation:

As for new features, they've expanded modding support with Level Scripting, allowing you to create your own world design along with Custom Level support, so you can make one from scratch or use the parameters from an existing level. Find mod examples on their GitHub.

Additionally, another fun feature they've added in is Twitch integration, to allow your audience to get involved. Viewers can do quite a lot, like picking a viewer to be in charge of your health potion, viewers can decide which upgrade scroll you get, only viewers can open chests, viewers can vote on what permanent upgrade to give you between levels, they can also give commands to a boss during a fight and so on. Naturally not everyone will be interested in such features, but I always find them amusing.

Absolutely love this game, as difficult as it can be at times it's a challenge that I really quite enjoy!

Find it on Humble StoreGOG and Steam, currently in Early Access with Linux support. The full release should be tomorrow.

Been playing it more recently. The gameplay is brilliant. Had my best run ever last night and after all those upgrades I thought I was invincible. Then I met the boss on the Black Bridge. I thought I had him too. Until he entered the last phase. Ouch. :D

Linux game catalog is already flooded with metroidvania indie games. Do not get me wrong, I enjoyed a lot of them, but I'm already tired of playing the same kind of game over and over again. And I'm sure I'm not alone at this.

I've seen one using it, it is indeed quite fun but you better have a good chat and not too much delay between the streamer and the viewers (or you'll be dead already when they decide that you have to use a potion). ;)

I hate difficult games. I play on easy mode because I like feeling like a god and I hate replaying sections.

This is the third difficult game that I enjoy playing, the first two being Rogue Legacy and Salt and Sanctuary. This a marriage of the two and damn, it's easy on the eyes.

The game that dragged me from Darkest Dungeon :)
Really nice gameplay, upgrades, replayability etc. Just buy it.
