The latest in the Deponia series is heading to Linux on the 1st of March named Deponia Doomsday. The previous games looked great, and they are pretty popular.

I still have yet to try any of them, as usually these type of adventure games aren't my cup, but I have been tempted. Should I?

About the game
One fateful night, Rufus awakes from a haunting nightmare: he sacrificed himself to save Deponia. But at what price? Elysium, the floating city crash-landed on the planet. As the last surviving Deponian, he fought savage fewlocks, but in the end, there was only one way out: He had to blow up Deponia! And... He grew a mustache.

Of course he realized that these gruesome events -especially the mustache part- had to be prevented from ever happening. Deponia and his well-shaved face had to survive!

But was this really just a dream? With the help of McChronicle, a quirky temporal scientist, who discovered strange time-anomalies, Rufus discovers that some time travelers from the future carelessly parked their time machine in his neighborhood. Just imagine if this amazing technology would fall into the wrong hands!

Dive right into this frantic sequel of the Deponia cult-trilogy and join the chaotic anti-hero Rufus on his most peculiar adventure. Even without knowing the previous installment, the hilarity of Deponia Doomsday will have you cracking smiles and burst with laughter.

Get enthralled by the bizarre humor and the uniquely designed world and enjoy the largest and longest Deponia adventure of all time.

Quoting: Segata SanshiroWhaaaaaaat??? How did I not know this was in development?!?! This is an instabuy for me, I love Deponia and coincidentally replaying the trilogy now so this is perfect timing. Really excited :D

Quoting: NatedawgI could be wrong, but weren't the Deponia games made in Godot? :)

It's Wintermute engine like Daedalic's other games. I don't think Godot was even around when the first game came out. Would be super cool if they switched to it though!

I'm pretty sure it was made with Visionaire Adventure Game Engine.

Yes, the Deponia games are made with the Visionaire engine (www.visionaire-studio.net/cms/adventure-game-engine.html).

It`s really nice to see a new Deponia installment - I didn't see that coming.

Quoting: MrokiiBut my biggest problem is that during the play-through I more and more began to hate Rufus.
Yeah, Rufus is a real psychopath. Nothing lovable about this rogue. Poki is really funny though, in English as well. (My high school German classes left me so badly traumatized, I wouldn't dare even try to enjoy his humour in that particular language. I have absolutely nothing against the country or its people, but the language is like my kryptonite.)

Seriously, doesn't Poki know how to write comedy without making the protagonist the least likable character in the story? In any case, a really good adventure game series, despite the MC. Definitely looking forward to this unexpected sequel.

I have the trilogy but I've only played the first one for a couple of hours, one of these days I'll get through them all.

Hmm, I have the first three, and played through all of them. The first one I really found hillarious, but in my perception the quality went down over the trilogy - at least I didn't enjoy the last one as much as the first one. So I'm not really sure what to expect of yet another part.
But I'll probably buy it anyway - at least if it shows up on GOG, that is.

Yeah you're right, my bad. Can't remember what game I was playing that used Wintermute.

Probably J.U.L.I.A or the Reversion games. Daedalic has used Visionarie for all of their own games, except the first Edna & Harvey game, which is a Java game.

I didn't like the first two Deponia games much for some of the reasons that have been mentioned here, but I thought the third one was OK. Not sure if I'll get this one yet. There are so many other games that I also want to play and not enough time. :/
