Design & Battle With Your Own Spaceship In BossConstructor

BossConstructor is an indie game I've been waiting on for quite a while, and the Early Access release is upon us.

There are a lot of sandbox games around, but BossConstructor ticks a lot of the right boxes. I am a massive sucker for spaceship games, and when I get to design my ship in a simple, but rewarding way that's great. I like to customize, but some games make it overly complicated where as BossConstructor keeps it simple and fun.

You can assemble your own ship in their in-built editor that allows for many different combinations. Much like you can do in Kerbal Space Program only in 2D with less components.
You could create an ugly slow behemoth of a ship, or a nimble little number the choice is all yours.

It will have a story mode as well as the sandbox areas, so it might even tick the boxes for people worn out by the influx of sandbox games too. Once they implement it that is, as for now the story mode isn't yet in place. It does have some AI play though, so it's not just a barebones design and fly a ship experience

The battles are really quite fun as you destroy the enemy AI ships component by component, but they can do the same to you. I've had a game where I was left with my command module and one side booster, so pretty much all I could do was go "weeeeeeee I'm spinning" and it's amusing.

The developer is focusing on single-player to make it a great experience, so don't expect multiplayer anytime soon, if ever.

Lukcily for laptop users it does work on my HD4000 as well as my desktop rig, so rejoice Intel users!

It is available on Linux & Windows with a Mac version later.

Check out BossConstructor on Steam now. The usual caveats with Early Acces applies though, so don't say we didn't warn you here at GOL.

I'd like to see this become a superior version of Fraxy. From the trailer it looks pretty basic, comparatively.
