Devour all humans in the gruesome preview of CARRION

Posted by , | Views: 10,463

CARRION makes it so good to be bad and if the new demo is anything to go by, the full game is certainly going to be entertaining. Currently in development by Phobia Game Studio, according to the publisher Devolver Digital said on Twitter it's time limited and likely to vanish after November 2nd so play it while you can.

CARRION is a reverse horror game in which you assume the role of an amorphous creature of unknown origin. Stalk and consume those that imprisoned you to spread fear and panic throughout the facility. Grow and evolve as you tear down this prison and acquire more and more devastating abilities on the path to retribution.

Here's some fresh footage taken earlier when messing around with it. Be warned: it gets a little gross and I had way too much fun. Keep the little people away from this one, it will thoroughly give them nightmares.

It's going to be interesting to see how it plays out. Where did you come from? Are you actually evil or were you ripped away from your home by the nasty humans? After playing with it, CARRION has gone to the top of my wishlist. Seriously, it's just that good. Super simple controls that allow you to really focus on the gameplay.

I found myself laughing at the sheer destruction you can cause, while also being rather queasy as I devoured body after body. The absolutely fantastic sound-work certainly helps too! From the crunching while you eat to the sounds of your many wiggling arms, the rattling chains and the many screams. Incredible style too, the pixel art here is gorgeous on your creature as well as the environments.

You can find the preview demo on Steam. It doesn't currently have a Linux icon, however it does have Linux system requirements and downloads the Linux demo fine. It should last you close to an hour, there's quite a bit to explore in it for those willing to find all the areas.

The full release is due sometime next year.

It could really use a little bit more blood.

It's one of the very few game i'm actually expecting. Others may come when they come, but this one attracts me a lot for some reason. However i'm not a fan of metroidlike, so, we will see. Demo is nice, i love moving around and eating people.

(edit : took me 30 mnutes to see the end of the demo, and the "secret level" i guess. Fun, even if very limited in what you can actually do)

Aww cool ! That is a game i have expected since the first review you posted here Liam ! Happy there is a demo. I will wishlist it and try the demo as soon as possible !

Edit: Tried the demo. Real fun ! Would be better without growling sounds and only the disgusting spaghetti whip sound but it is a detail. It really runs on a potato.

Wonder if there will be a bunch of sequels, like "Carrion Cowboy" and "Carrion up the Khyber".

DedaleIt really runs on a potato.

It really does, performance is great. Much better on my 10yo laptop than either Crossing Souls or Dead Cells (and looking much better than the former). Doesn't even spin up the fan.
