Double Fine Productions announced on their Fig campaign for Psychonauts 2 that there's going to be a delay, with it now due in 2020.

Let's get to the good news first, they continue to confirm all previously mentioned platforms will be delivered which obviously includes the Linux version, just like they said before. As for the delay, they simply said it will be "next year" with no clear roadmap being given out yet.

If you missed it in the previous news, they also have a gameplay trailer now:

Hopefully this extra time, along with the help from Microsoft as their new owners will result in a highly polished and fun experience. I really don't mind a delay, too many games are rushed out as it is and a game as big as this deserves some extra love and attention.

You can wishlist/follow it on Steam. Are you looking forward to it?

Microsoft buys studio and now game is delayed. The last time this happened Halo went from being a squad based open world shooter on Windows and Mac to being an XBOX exclusive on rails. And don't get me started on what they did to Oni.

It is Double Fine... it's not a surprise, is it?

MS swallowed them. Will they still make Linux games in the future?

Think we all know the answer to that :(

Same with Obsidian and inXile. Horrible, horrible news. Damn hostile take-overs :'(

Let's wait and see. Not that I would get my hope up, but who knows? Between Epic's and Microsoft's purchases this has been quite a concerning year but if push comes to shove we'll still have proton so the hit will not be that fatal.

What a great trailer! I never thought I'd be interested, I never was particularly impressed with the first game, but now... Lovely artwork and that map with the teeth were just wonderfully creative!

Yikes!, the memories. I do feel old to remember these. I was eapecially psyched about Oni. And Halo was a Glide game.
