Earth 2160 is a game from quite a few years ago now, but it's a classic strategy game. Looks like someone has begun bringing it over to Linux too.

It popped up on SteamDB today:

In October of 2015 they released a Wine wrapped version for Mac, so it's probable we are getting the same treatment here. Nothing is confirmed though.

About the game
After the destruction of the EARTH in 2150, the leaders of the Eurasian Dynasty escaped on board an evacuation fleet. Now they are fighting for the survival of the human species. Their base is one large building comprising of smaller variable parts. The Lunar Corporation is already on the Red Planet and has to fight to find a new base and home after the destruction of the Earth. LC buildings are built one on top of the other, similar to a skyscraper, but with one big difference - they have the ability to defy all the laws of gravity to move quickly to a new location. That's good, although it's a shame that Earth 2140 never made it to Steam.

Made a thread about this on the forum... which now will again be obsolete :'(

Oh cool. Even if it's a supported wine-wrapped version it's nice.

Supported, counted as a Linux sale and another game on Linux, all things I like to see :).

Oh, sweet. I remember playing earth 2150, some time ago while there was a sale on GOG I was thinking about purchasing the whole franchise and testing how it behaves on Linux, now I know at least 2160 will be tested by me :)

Topware said they will Wine wrap their games for OSX and Linux some time ago. They did so for OSX already, so it is time for Linux :) I'll be glad to repurchase Jagged Alliance 2 Wildfire, Septerra Core or Jack Orlando :)

Well, we will see if it appears on Steam. It seems that Zuxxez Entertainment AG (former: TopWare Interactive AG) is insolvent and requested insolvency proceedings two days ago.

So long as I don't have to think about the fact that it's wrapped in WINE, the porting method is fine with me for older games. GOG offers Flatout 1 and 2 in this way and the game installs just like any other + is preconfigured so a buyer hardly has to know that it's a WINE port.

They also porting Two Worlds I and II for Linux. Some time ago (on the now-defunct Polish game site) I read that one of redactor talked with the developer Reality Pump. They already have early and running experimental versions of Two Worlds II for Linux in OpenGL. They added that they will make native version these games that they can, the rest will be in WINE.

It's obviously not an issue if these updates on SteamDB are from today.
