Feral Interactive are up to their usual teasing once again. They've announced F1 2017 is coming to Mac, but they're also directly requesting to see demand for it on Linux.

See their Tweet:

Should Linux re-join our FORMULA ONE team with F1 2017? It won’t be this month if they do, but show us there's demand! #THEREQUESTINATOR pic.twitter.com/MLuN2IJAyv

I believe this is the first time they've ever asked the Linux community about demand for a specific game. The interesting thing really is their wording "It won’t be this month if they do" meaning there's a real chance.

Considering they previously ported F1 2015 to Linux and said F1 2016 won't be ported as sales of F1 2015 weren't strong enough, maybe they're going to test the waters once again? I imagine if F1 2017 is actually reviewed better, it would sell better.

As much as I love seeing games come to Linux I can't say I have any interest in this one. I am not big on racing games and Dirt Rally was for me a rare exception where I really enjoyed single player racing. I hope enough others are interested though!

I would like to play it

What interests me most is whether F1 2017 is 'West Norwood' which vanished from the radar? =)

If it comes to Linux and if it is a good racing game, I'll buy it.

Of course, If F1 2017 comes to Linux, I will buy it, sure. This game seems to be most complete than F1-2015. F1-2015 is not great, but is not a bad game like a lot of people say here. I love all the racing games, especially the simulators. Someone talked about Assetto Corsa in this thread... this is a real racing simulator, with a lot of DLC's, mods and a extreme Force Feedback support. Feral devs could take an eye on it. Project Cars could be another "bombazo" if it could be ported, and it is more commercial. It has a lot of types of cars, circuits and a good career mode.

As others have said I'd prefer if Feral put their dev effort elsewhere as its not my favorite genre, but I'm a Feral Fanboy so would support them and buy it if it was released. I'm sure I'd enjoy it, particularly if it supported Vulkan and performance was good.

F1 fan here, I can't believe there is actually a chance for this game to be ported to Linux, despite the bad reviews of F1 2015.

I think it's reasonable to give a 2nd chance to F1 franchise because F1 2015 was the worst of the series (imo F1 2013 is still the best).

I would definitely buy it.

If Feral makes a port of this game, I will definitely be able to remove windows from my partitions. It's the only reason I keep a partition with windows (F1 2016 at this time).

Feral, port it, please.
