Feral Interactive are celebrating their Steam group for 'Mac & Linux multiplayer' reaching over 1K people by hosting a multiplayer event and they will be livestreaming it.

Anyone can join in, as long as you own Company of Heroes 2 on Steam.

It will be on the 11th of January at 6:30PM UTC:
2017-01-11 18:30:00

The start is a bit too early for me, but I am hoping to join in a bit later on (maybe just after 7PM UTC). So be sure to stick around if you want to play with me too.

See their announcement here. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

They've never said it would be coming, they have said their reasons why before plenty of times.
Edit: You can read about that here btw.

The missing cross platform support is a huge problem for me as well. Hopefully such things won't happen again in the future because the main developers use cross platform compilers from the start.

Yeah it all really depends on the Original developer using that game engine again or any game engine they design in the future that is designed in a similar way to give this issue. The fact that it relies so much on timing mechanisms within the mechanics of the game engine in my honest opinion is just crazy and over complex.

From what I can see and understand this has nothing to do with the porting process or with Feral. They have taken it apon themselves to try and resolve it for over a year which is great but at the end of the day it's not their issue to fix really.
