Feral Interactive are teasing a brand new native Linux port

By - | Views: 61,356

All aboard the hype train, as Feral Interactive are setting off with a new native Linux game that's being teased on their port radar.

For their Tweet:

5PM on a Friday, we're getting ready for the #BankHolidayWeekend to start, and the Feral Radar decides to kick into life with a new blip for macOS and Linux. Well, whatever. We'll fix that rusty old thing on Tuesday. Okay, bye!

Here it is:

"Working with fire and steel" huh—anyone got any thoughts? I have a lot that come to mind, but I don't think I've ever managed to guess a single one of them correctly, they're always a damn good surprise.

Really great to see more coming from Feral, I sure do hope they have more on the way too. They're a company that has supported Linux really well for a long time now, both in terms of games and wider community efforts.

What a week!

I do not think it is three kingdoms, because according to the steam page it is not due for release until spring of 2019, so I doubt it would be on the feral radar this early.

Fire and Steel -> Napoleon.
The eight pointed star is probably a reference to the Union Jack, so I would imagine they're porting Waterloo.

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoI think Feral must stop doing this porting zapping..

They should concentrate the porting skills in one game at a time..

Now they must focus in the ultra super delayed Life is Strange: Before the Storm.

Quality over quantity for sure, I actually didn't complete Rise of The Tomb Raider because the FPS drops I find nauseating, and I'm not an FPS snob and can tolerate some lower degrees of performance here and there, I get drops in the native linux version of Ruiner but I don't really notice it much, but that's a top-down shooter with fixed camera.. in rise of tomb raider it just makes me feel sea sick though :-\

But the port is actually good, and get 60fps is majority of the game but there seem to be alot of spots that just drop in performance randomly.

Not to say the port wasn't quality, who knows it could be a problem on my end but I wasn't able to maintain solid 60fps and the drops personally found unbearable enough to put me off completing it.. would be great to see some more patches for the game because I think with enough love it could perform better

Sorry to hear that. The game worked perfectly for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

My guess is that Ferals is also waiting for a DX stream-output like feature to get into Vulkan specifications and drivers.

Eight pointed stars were used fairly heavily in ancient Christianity. The represented baptism and also were a symbol used by the Knights Templar.

In certain orientations, eight pointed stars could also represent either Satan or the Egyptian goddess Isis. Hopefully this helps someone smarter and more informed than me figure it out.

Do I even need to say how obvious it is that this is Skyrim?

Clearly, I do.

It's going to be Total War: Three Kingdoms, isn't it? *sigh*

Don't get me wrong, that's great for fans of the series, it's just that we already have a bunch of games from the series on Linux, I would much rather see Feral port something different.

Oh well, I won't buy it but hopefully it sells well for Feral.

do you guys thinks there is a small possibility of Shadow of War being ported?. I mean it has Denuvo. First they have to drop Denuvo. I don't think they will release a Denuvo free version for Linux before Windows drops it.

Maybe it's Skyrim. Wouldn't that be ironic now that you can play Skyrim in Steam for Linux using Proton.

My guess is Valkyria Chronicles 4!!!

It will be released a the end of September, Sega has a couple of native Linux games and Valkyria Chronicles has been updated on my PC for no reason today (installed with Proton).

So I bet on Valkyria Chronicles 4 (and I hope an updated native Valkyria Chronicles or official Proton Valkyria Chronicles, since it already works with Proton, except for a couple of crashes).

:)
