Yup, it's teaser time again! Feral Interactive are teasing another new Linux & Mac port on their infamous teaser radar.

You know how this works by now, Feral tease a picture with another clue and we have no idea what it will be until it's released.

Here it is:

Begin the guessing game, what do you think it could be? I think it's good to see another teaser for Linux appear!

For those that don't already know, Feral Interactive are the company behind many Linux ports like Shadow of Mordor, XCOM, Tomb Raider, Mad Max and quite a number more. Their Linux catalogue is pretty damn impressive right now. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Quoting: PixelPiOkay, I think I've come a step further. Now it becomes linguistic. Look at this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simplified_Wade

Simplified Wade. MADE TO WADE. This could mean that we should transliterate the Mandarin symbol for tea to roman characters. MADE TO (get transliterate with simplified) WADE.

茶 = cha

Right?

Any ideas about cha and games? :/

I dunno about the cha link, but maybe the "Made to Wade" goes the other way - possibly the idea is to convert the phrase 'made to' into Chinese.

Online converters suggest that it might transliterate from Wade-Giles to pinyin as 'ma duo', and throwing that into a pinyin->chinese converter gives me this stuff

码垛 (碼垛)mǎ duò
[stack] 把物品整齐地堆叠好
刚刚把米袋码垛好,雨就落下来了

Since I'm not in the 1/4 of the Earth's population for which this is actually meaningful, I pass it through Google Translate to get:

Stacking (stacking) mǎ duò
Stack up the items neatly
Just put the rice bag stack and the rain came down

Aha! 'Stacking' is a rather fine game by Double Fine Software, but it already has a Linux version, so it can't be that. But if you've seen the state of Double Fine's games roster these days, you'll know that they're all about reboots, remasters, reissues and sequels. So it still fits. The clue obviously refers to a Feral Interactive Day 1 Linux/Mac port of Stacking 2, or, more likely Stacking: Director's Cut Remastered HD GOTY Edition.

You heard it here first.

The phrase "Made to Wade" appears in the following song Crass - Major General Despair "The generals and politicians who advocate war should be made to wade in the truth of it" which could relate to NieR:Automata.

There is something else that suggests it could be NieR:Automata. Feral generally adds two depots domesticated_internal & domesticated_merge, NieR has two development branches 483qtryh438w & jkfes9uqt43ql that were created after the Steam Release

I'd put that down as Wishful thinking; the Crass reference (they appear to have two totally different songs with the same title, I only recall the other one) is a bit unconvincing, and the two branches seem to be very much tied to the Windows version if you investigate steamdb further

Windows depots are always available in the Feral branches. Probably something in the way Steam works. Still, it looks like work on some DLCs to me.

Quoting: PixelPiOkay guys, let's get some more structured. :)

As I see it, Feral has so far ported games from the following developer studios (publishers):

Codemasters
Creative Assembly (SEGA)
Relic Entertainment (SEGA)
Eidos Montreal (Square Enix)
Dontnod Entertainment (Square Enix)
Crystal Dynamics (Square Enix)
Avalanche Studios (Warner Bros.)
Monolith Productions (Warner Bros.)
Relic Entertainment (THQ)
Firaxis Games (2K Games)

Taking this basis for investigating what the next Feral release could be - The existing Developers/Publishers and their most likely games titles. This is what I came up with:

Rise of the Tomb Raider
Just Cause 3
theHunter: Call of the Wild
Middle-Earth: Shadow of War (but it is 4 months from release)
Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War III (but it is a few weeks away from release)
Viking: Battle for Asgard
NieR: Automata (it's another Square Enix game, but PlatinumGames developers not linked to Feral before)

The above possibilities are due to existing relationships, games which are not out on Linux or Mac, and games which are recent enough to be possibilities. Obviously, this misses out new relationships with new Publishers.

I was also interested in the "MADE TO WADE" and the "TEA" words in the hint. Note that the letters T,E,A are in "MADE TO WADE". If you remove letters TEA you get this: "M A D O W D" (That has DOW ~ Dawn of War ~ tucked away in it.) Or you get this, removing the first A: "M D O W A D" (also DOW in there).

I also tried just taking out the "T" ( sounds like "TEA" ) character and you have these left: "MADE O WADE".
I then looked at words I could make out of those letters, and found things like this:
MEADOW ~ could be theHunter (removing TEA letters)
WOADED ~ could be Vikings (removing TEA letters)
O MAD WEED ~ no idea (uses up all remaining letters, after taking out T letter)
DOW MD ~ Dawn of War M? D? (removing TEA and E and A letters)
MADE DOW ~ Made Dawn of War (removing TEA letters)

Based on PixelPi's approach, I'd say it is likely to be one of the one's I've listed above. Although a new publisher relationship (e.g. with Flying Wild Hog, for instance) would add many other possibilities.

There's also a rumour that Bayonetta might be launching for "PC" soon.

Please not Bayonetta. That is a disgusting game
