  • Individual user volume adjustment.
  • A new shortcut to change your voice transmission mode between: voice activation, push to talk and continuous and a toolbar to select it too.
  • Dynamic channel filtering, enabling you to easily show/hide empty channels.
  • PulseAudio monitor devices can be used as input devices.
  • Improved user admin tools including inactive time, an improved ban-list and more.
  • The ability to lower the volume of others when a priority speaker is talking.
  • Plus tons more.

See the full release announcement here.

Quoting: devnullHostile? Erm, OK? Guess if you wish to think that sure.
Seems like a reasonable way to construe
Quoting: devnullWell, you're reading Reddit. Not sure why I'm surprised?
Your strawman isn't going to work.
You have to be kidding me.
(seriously where do you get this drivel from).
I don't know where to even begin with that.
Oh hell I give up on this thread.
You're fairly clueless when it comes to this, I forgot.
And that's just the bits that stand out as individual utterances. In context, much of the rest of what you said is very dismissive and snide, as well. I suppose you could say that was less "hostile" and more "contemptuous", but I certainly wouldn't describe it as "friendly" or "respectful" or even "neutral".
Incidentally, you're right that Scaine isn't using the word "strawman" correctly. But, neither are you.

Quoting: devnull..Claims to be done with thread, takes another jab.
Didn't you just claim to be done with the thread?

Yep, I did. And going to respond to this too.

QuoteAnd that's just the bits that stand out as individual utterances. In context, much of the rest of what you said is very dismissive and snide, as well.

Yes, that happens in a discussion where two people don't agree.

QuoteI suppose you could say that was less "hostile" and more "contemptuous", but I certainly wouldn't describe it as "friendly" or "respectful" or even "neutral".

That could be because we're not neutral, it's a discussion.

QuoteIncidentally, you're right that Scaine isn't using the word "strawman" correctly. But, neither are you.

Which is a pretty big part of his entire argument but hey, trivialize whatever you wish.

Regarding your comment above which I've ignored until now:

QuoteWhile I don't know the truth about Discord, I can read English. You are incorrectly parsing what you're replying to and this is leading you to be inaccurately insulting.

Translation you have no idea what we're talking about but feel the need to claim I'm insulting someone? What on earth guy.

You can still discuss without being snide.

Let's all just remember that someone is sitting at a keyboard and be excellent to each other. This devolved from an honest question about why people hate Discord to a real mess of back and forth that wasn't productive for anyone.

I'll post the results of the privacy report when I receive it, in the vague notion that someone might still be interested.

Quoting: scaineI still use Teamspeak, but updating it is a bit of a pain, because I have to update the little server app on my "server" laptop first - if the clients update early, then it breaks, which isn't ideal.

I tried Mumble years ago, but switched to Teamspeak because the app did a better job with low-quality mics, including echo reduction and noise reduction.

Discord seems to have grabbed the market though.
Mumble has better noise suppression for me(than teamspeak3 does).

Hahahahah!!!!
Clearly I have an advantage here. I, as I mentioned, understand how to read English. And parse sentences. Decode meaning. That kind of thing. Thus, I could see the obvious meaning of a sentence typed by one person, and realize when someone else made a rejoinder which made no sense unless they'd totally misconstrued it. You haven't been doing much of that parsing and decoding stuff--not accurately, anyway.

At this point it's clear that was accidentally-on-purpose. Just as your rejoinder to me relies on systematically twisting what's being said. The sad thing is, it's possible you've got a good argument somewhere hidden--but you've spent so much time trying to make people you're talking to look bad that you haven't had room to actually explain much about your position. And you've been so sure that, I dunno, the other person actually knows you're right and is only saying something different because they want to make people think wrong things, or something, that you haven't been bothering to make it very clear what your points are really about.

I myself am predisposed to be neutral or even on your side on the actual topic--I'm suspicious of corporations and quite willing to believe in their ill intentions. But when someone is acting like you're acting, I conclude that if they had real points to make they would be doing it instead of flaming.

Do we really need to turn this into a pissing competition, I would really love it if we could spend less time moderating and dealing with comment reports.
