Free The Monsters- An Open-Source Monster Collection

By Justin - | Views: 10,711
Free the Monsters is a campaign to create a set of open source fantasy creature designs, and game-ready models. All of the monsters will be released under a creative-commons license so they can be used without charge in games and other media. The campaign will use the funds to hire artists and modelers to create the monsters which will then be released freely. The models will come in a number of formats so they can be dropped into your favorite engine. Additionally, all the creature designs will be painted by artists using Linux and Gimp, proving the efficacy of Linux in creating game media.

Free the Monsters!

Backer rewards include a book with the names of all backers, a deck of free monster cards, video tutorials on creating your own monsters using free software, t-shirts and more.
