Daedalic Entertainment have announced that their futuristic thriller 'State of Mind' is going to release on August 16th with Linux support and pre-orders are now open.

I completely forgot this was a thing, since I haven't covered anything about it since 2016! Turns out, they released a new teaser trailer back in April which you can see below:

I think it looks great, really excited to give it a go. Here's what they say it will feature:

  • Experience an alarmingly realistic vision of the near future
  • Dive into a multi-layered Sci-Fi thriller, where dystopian reality and digital utopia are intertwined
  • Unravel a global conspiracy in a society of ubiquitous digitalism, surveillance and transhumanism
  • Explore a world with a rich and unique visual style, combining realistic environments with low-poly characters
  • Take on the role of journalist Richard Nolan, as well as five additional playable characters
  • Use dexterity, skills of deduction and research to reconstruct Richard's past

You can find it on both GOG and Steam.

As a reminder, if you want to pick up some cheap Daedalic games now, do take a look at The Humble Daedalic Bundle 2018.

Thanks for the tip, NuSuey.

I love the visual design of the game so far, I hope it will have a good story and gameplay! :)

Yeah magnificent visuals, I sure hope they will deliver on story too - and that it's not too railed.

This price is crazy high to be honest.

Seems reasonable to me. Developers really can't survive on the race to the bottom for prices.

I'm looking forward to this but am really hoping the Linux version comes to GOG. The Linux symbol was there and then removed so I don't know if it will at launch or later.

Good to hear that Linux release is still planned. GOG removed Linux from its game page before for some reason, and it was a bit suspicious. Looks like now it's listing Linux again.

I believe, we already reached GOG on this matter and had gotten the answer in the vein of "We can not declare platform compatibility if we are not 100% sure." (Sorry, I'm too lazy right now to search for the link).

Ooh, that looks good.

I dunno. Seems fairly reasonable to me, and I'm pretty sensitive to price. It's certainly more than I'm prepared to pay right now, but it's not even close to what the AAA crowd ask for these days. I wouldn't call it “crazy” high.

Agree with some other opinions here.
Doesn't look too high. 30 is fair IMO.
Compared to triple A games that charge 60 + DLC/season pass, then they add microtranscations and claim "game as a service" and "too expensive to maintain".

That's actually just what Berlin looks like these days
