La-Mulana is a positively rated, retro inspired hard platformer with puzzles and exploration. The developers have just released the Linux version on Steam.

From the announcement:
QuoteSuper exciting news! La-Mulana finally supports Mac and Linux officially. After a long beta testing mode and some great help, we are happy to release it to you all.

We hope that you all enjoy it and share the adventure!

Apparently it is quite a difficult game which could put people off, but also a rewarding experience if you can tolerate that. Lots of exploration, difficult puzzles, combat and more.

About the game (From Steam)
LA-MULANA is an “Archaeological Ruin Exploration Action Game,” bringing the classic appeal of adventure with the punishing difficulty of retro-inspired gaming. Search inside ancient ruins, seeking out the “Secret Treasure of Life” – which sleeps in the sprawling ruins of “LA-MULANA” and is said to be the beginning of all civilization. Unfortunately, priceless artifacts very rarely give themselves up easily.

Apart from the plethora of traps lying in wait, there are also monsters on the prowl, protecting the ruins. Head for the innermost depths of the ruins while solving a variety of mysteries, fending off monsters, and disarming traps. Forging ahead will be no simple task – the further into the depths you reach, the more difficult the mysteries become. The guardians of LA-MULANA do not take their job lightly.

The game is considered a tribute to the MSX computer systems - which was my first (and second!) computer system when I was young. I got it from Humble Indie Bundle 14, and I really should take a second look on it...!

These have been my first computers (text in German):

I own this game because it was included in a Humble Bundle. Yes, it is hard, unforgiving, frustrating, but if you played and loved the 8-bit and 16-bit platformers you'll find at home. It contains lots of obscure puzzles, and you have to repeat the levels more and more times to figure out things.
All in all is interesting, but I stopped playing it because I got bored of all this hate versus the player: rage quit is beneath the corner with this game.

Yes, but now it has officially left the beta phase of development and sports a SteamOS icon, displaying to all who venture upon the game's page that it supports Linux.

I played this game many years ago. It's extremely difficult and confusing (in a good way), particularly if you don't get any help from any online guide.

Bought it, instantly regret it for not supporting my Xbox One joypad...

Why Valve, why aren't you selling your gamepad here in Brazil...
