GOG are running a big sale, lots of titles up for cheap

Posted by , | Views: 4,567
The DRM free store GOG are running a big sale right now, which will run until the 27th. There's plenty on offer!

Some choice picks:
- Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition - 50% off
- Shadowrun: Hong Kong - Extended Edition - 67% off
- Kerbal Space Program - 40% off
- Dex - 67% off

They also finally have LIMBO on GOG, but it does not have a Linux version yet. Hopefully it won't be a long wait.

They should have new deals up each day until the sales end.

You can find all Linux games on sale by clicking here.

Let me know if you pick up any of the tasty deals in the comments!

A word of warning regarding Divinity: Original Sin.
While it does run pretty well on AMD with the open source drivers, it only checks if the GPU vendor is ATI, and if it isn't, the game will try to use an nVidia specific OpenGL extension, fail in doing so, and crash...

This means, that if one wants to play it on AMD, one needs to use an LD_PRELOAD shim (to fake ATI vendor), and set an environment variable (to set allow_glsl_extension_directive_midshader=true ) to get the game to launch. Details are available in the answers to the bug report.

Once one manages to get Divinity to start, it runs very stable, and (at least as far as I can tell) without any graphical issues. Performance is excellent on AMD - I didn't let the game output fps numbers, but with a frame rate limit of 60 fps my GPU fan is significantly more quiet than without frame rate limiting.

FYI: Fez finally got the Linux release on GOG after a huge wait (not long ago). It's also on sale now:

Yeah, I've heard about this nasty bug. Did anyone actually report it to Larian? When are they going to fix it?

If not, please open a bug report thread on their forum and point to the freedesktop bugzilla.

Nothing interesting for me, personally, this time. Too close to a possible Autumn and/or Winter sales anyway.

And... I have far too many unplayed games ^^

Just picked up Shadowrun: Hong Kong - Extended Edition. Quite convenient, considering that I am well on my way through Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut after having already completed the main Dead Man's Switch campaign in Shadowrun Returns last week.
