Hollow Knight: Gods & Glory, a third free content update has been announced

I've been mighty impressed by Hollow Knight [GOG, Steam], not just because the game is beautiful, but their support in the form of free content updates is awesome. Hollow Knight: Gods & Glory has now been announced.

Here's the details they've revealed about it so far:

  • New Character and Quest – The Godseeker arrives (and your romance options expand). Track down this disturbing yet alluring being, break her chains and aid her in an ancient duty.
  • New Boss Fights – Hallownest’s greatest warriors raise their blades. Prepare yourself for giant new boss fights against the ultimate foes. Each new battle intertwines with the Godseeker’s quest. No specifics on how that’ll happen, but it may not be as you expect!
  • New Game Mode – Hollow Knight receives a third game mode. This ones been long requested and is a classic for the genre. Complete the Gods & Glory story to unlock the new mode.
  • New Music – Christopher Larkin is going all out for Hollow Knight’s final free pack, with new soaring boss tracks and giant remixes of some beloved classics.
  • Glorify Charms – Prove yourself and uncover a whole new depth to your charm collection.

However, they do note that there will be more surprises they're not telling so they don't spoil it all. They're also not giving an exact release date yet, other than "Early 2018". They also say that it will be the "final chapter of the Knight’s journey", so it sounds like this might be the last free update.

You can find Hollow Knight on GOG and Steam.

Maybe someone should re-gift it to Samsai so he can stream in again.

I just got it recently, so I've barely played any yet. This sounds nice all the same.

I finished this game only once (and without 100%). It is one of the most enjoyable *Vania type games I ever played, some bosses made me Alt+F4 a couple of times, looking forward for more (bosses not alt+f4's). :-)

Did anyone ever completed the White castle? I didn't had energy to play the DLC after that...

Wow. I didn't expect another one! Very cool. I will sit down and replay the whole thing when the last DLC is released.

Yes, it is tricky but if you have any experience with other platformers, it turns out not too crazy if you are patient. Some of the hidden sections of Guacamelee were harder for me. I never quite got the final stage of the Arena in Hollow Knight, though. Many optional parts are challenging but the game does reward practice and skill.

Same here. I feared the White Castle after everything I'd read about it, but in the end I found it quite feasible. The Trial of the Fool at the Colosseum, on the other hand...

About 6-7 weeks later.

Good enough for my wallet.

It's not exactly my type of game, but it does seem interesting, so I wanted to wait for sale. But with all the free content updates and pretty early Linux release, I'm sure I won't regret getting it for the full price.
