In Case of Emergency, Release Raptor is the latest game from Arcen Games, LLC and a rather big departure from their usual stuff. You're a velociraptor in space tearing up robots.

I love that Arcen is trying something new, even if the idea is completely bonkers it just might work.

From the Steam page
Sell Me The Idea In One Sentence
If I have to convince you why being any form of dromaeosaurid is freaking awesome, then I'm not sure we can be friends.

This game is carefully crafted to give you the closest possible feeling of being one of these glorious monsters -- then turning you loose to do fun stuff. That means you don't get (or need) "frickin lasers," health upgrades, or character progression.

That said, as we know from historical documents, it's hard to be a raptor in a futuristic dystopia. Robots have guns, and you don't. Despite the fact that you're an incredible hunting machine, you've got your work cut out for you if you want to master the game.

Thanks for the info Dax!

Sounds too hilarious to pass up, I've requested a press copy. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Hmmm, I don't know! It's not the game I prefer.
I mean you play a dinosaur in space who smashes robots?... C'mon!
And additional it's early access. After so many early access titles I bought hopefully, they failed especially for the linux release I don't support this kind of business anymore. It's a waste of money!

The game looks like it could be good for a few minutes of fun, but i can't see this having any lasting appeal.
Also, despite what the Jurassic Park movie would like you to believe Velociraptors were actually about as large as a chicken. The dinosaur depicted in the film is actually a Deinonychus(Which means Terrible Claw in Greek btw). Tbh Velociraptor does sound cooler in English.

animations could use heavy work.
if its just smashing robots in space(ship) then it will be quite boring fast.

if there are skills and maybe some interesting puzzles etc it might even work.

I'm going to be a cynic and say that Arcen Games hasn't been making good profits off of their usual games; so they decided "Let's make a YouTube fodder game!" in the hopes that they can make a huge profit off of a mindless game just like that wretched game called Goat Simulator did.

They also could be doing this for the same reason that they did Starward Rogue, and that's to get them some extra cash as they continue their work on Stars Beyond Reach. I'm going to give Arcen the benefit of the doubt and assume this is the real reason for this game. As it would not only alleviate some of the costs, but it would also give their workers an alternative to work on if they are getting bored working on the same game for so long especially the artist who might not have much left to do for their actual new game.

This looks stupid and awesome at the same time, but then again I actually like Goat Simulator.

It looks pretty ridiculous, but I might buy it

I once struck up a conversation with a stranger in a GameStop a few years back, and I happened to mention my then drop-dead favorite game of all time was Saint's Row 2. He almost physically recoiled. He said, "I hate that game! It's so unrealistic, so silly. I don't get it."

So I asked him what sort of games did he like?

"Sports games, mostly. Some racing games. I just don't see the point to unrealistic games like Saint's Row."

When I saw that there was a game set on a space station entitled Release the Raptors, I literally laughed out loud and immediately added it to my wishlist. It's clearly not a game for everyone, but it's a game for me, so I'm thrilled to hear it's coming out as soon as July 5th.

I love "silly and pointless."

I expect I'll love Release the Raptors :D
