It has been a long time coming, but it seems Insurgency will be with us within the next few months. The developer said it was important.

They recently said this on reddit:
QuoteWe're making very good progress, but there are a few missing pieces before it's ready. It's important for us to have Linux support in time for the SteamOS launch.

I tried it out a long time ago, and I personally thought it was awesome. We need more tactical FPS games on Linux, and there's a big drought of them. They are one of the most popular types of games around (CoD, Battlefield), and we need them to help our popularity in the long run.

About the game
Take to the streets for intense close quarters combat, where a team's survival depends upon securing crucial strongholds and destroying enemy supply in this multiplayer and cooperative Source Engine based experience. The follow-up game to the award-winning Source mod, Insurgency is highly competitive and unforgivingly lethal, striking a balance between one-life gameplay and prolonged action. It's always good to get more choice and this game looks pretty nice, a lot slower and less frantic than CS:GO (not a bad thing), which means someone like me might actually stand a chance... Who am I kidding? I'd still get 420 MLG BLAZE IT NO SCOPED again and again. :P

Now if we could just get a MMO, I mean a big time AAA one. We have zero choice in that department, and I don't even really play MMOs, I just recognize it as the most glaring hole in the Linux gaming catalog.

Well there actually is War Thunder which I consider a AAA MMO but you probably mean MMOs like WoW.

My bad, let me clarify. I mean MMORPG.

You can play Wakfu on Linux : http://www.wakfu.com/en/mmorpg, it's a very popular and great MMORPG with a decent amount of players compared to other MMOs (Wakfu vs EVE Online vs D&D Online and it even has it's own anime :

So that's definitely not zero, and there is also Albion Online which is near release, and also some few very old or new but retro ones.
