It's time to bug Feral Interactive about future port requests once again

By - | Views: 79,564

Feral Interactive, the absolute monster when it comes to big Linux game ports is asking what you want to see again.

You all know Feral by now, they've ported HITMAN, F1 2017, Mad Max, Dawn of War III, Life is Strange, XCOM, XCOM 2, DiRT Rally and many more seriously good games to Linux. On top of that, they still have an existing teaser up that they haven't yet announced, all we know is that it's coming to Linux.

On Twitter, they asked this recently:

It’s a New Year full of new possibilities! If you could only have one new game for macOS, Linux or mobile in 2018, which one would it be? And why? We can’t promise that your dreams will come true, but the best answers will star in our email newsletter.

Naturally, Feral lurk in our comments, so feel free to post here as well as I'm sure they will be taking note.

For me personally, I would like a new open-world game that I can travel around and sink plenty of hours into. Something to allow time to fade away and forget about all lifes problems.

So—what do you want Feral to bring to Linux next?

I agree with the general sentiment of the comments implying a need for more open world games. Here's a few more titles for consideration:

  • Skyrim

  • BattleZone 2: Combat Commander (New relaunch coming to GOG in 2018)

  • Mount and Blade Bannerlord (assuming a 2018 launch, but never too early to start negotiations!)

Shadow of War for me for sure.
And Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, but my guess is that they'd make it an in house port again as they did last time at taleworlds.

Doom 2016, GTA V, and Elite: Dangerous are the top entries on my wishlist.

I'm still going to keep my head in the clouds and request Horizon: Zero Dawn against all odds. As others have said, not too many native options for open world first-person RPGs currently, and my god does that game look gorgeous and immersive and have a great narrative. As a bonus, no one can say they already have a Windows license on Steam and don't need to buy it again :P

I see many people requesting Rise of the Tomb Raider; wasn't that one already confirmed on Feral's radar? If not, that's a good second/realistic choice.

Almost anything open world based, yes. Preferably with a futuristic theme but heck I'll take anything I can dive into and LIVE. As long as it has a single player campaign and not just mp sandbox.

I love the games they've ported so far and still have to purchase a few of 'em (this year for sure).

A few games I'd love to see would be The Witcher 3, and maybe Dragon Age: Inquisition. Loves my RPGs.

But lately I've been finally seeing JRPGs on linux such as Disgaea 2 PC, which is awesome. Nippon Ichi Software never added linux support for Disgaea PC or Phantom Brave PC, though. Not too big of a deal since there are excellent emulators that can still play these games. Hopefully the rumored port of Disgaea 5 will support linux. But anyway back on topic...

I'd like to see more JRPG ports to linux as well. The major, more recent titles being:

Tales of Zestiria
Tales of Berseria
Ys 8: Lacrimosa of Dana
and Ni no Kuni II

I would absolutely buy anything listed here.

It's the common guess for what's on Feral's radar for Linux, but as usual, there's no confirmation to know for sure.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III - cross-platform Multiplayer with Windows, since a multiplayer game without players is a dead game!

Warcraft III - Since it's a nice classic game and NO moving target -> easy to port since it has an OGL renderer.
Starcraft II - The most amazing RTS ever made!
The Witcher III - Since it's the mos amazing modern RPG ever made!
Age of Empires II HD - Since it's THE classic RTS game.

I have replied on their Tweet, but I dream about Shenmue 3 sooo much. Soooo much. I know its still in development but should release in 2018. Having Linux version would be just awesome. They are using UE4 and releasing also on PS4, so maybe it would not be that hard?
