It's time to bug Feral Interactive about future port requests once again

By - | Views: 79,568

Feral Interactive, the absolute monster when it comes to big Linux game ports is asking what you want to see again.

You all know Feral by now, they've ported HITMAN, F1 2017, Mad Max, Dawn of War III, Life is Strange, XCOM, XCOM 2, DiRT Rally and many more seriously good games to Linux. On top of that, they still have an existing teaser up that they haven't yet announced, all we know is that it's coming to Linux.

On Twitter, they asked this recently:

It’s a New Year full of new possibilities! If you could only have one new game for macOS, Linux or mobile in 2018, which one would it be? And why? We can’t promise that your dreams will come true, but the best answers will star in our email newsletter.

Naturally, Feral lurk in our comments, so feel free to post here as well as I'm sure they will be taking note.

For me personally, I would like a new open-world game that I can travel around and sink plenty of hours into. Something to allow time to fade away and forget about all lifes problems.

So—what do you want Feral to bring to Linux next?

ToBeHonest the directx-to-vulkan projects (there are 3 of them) are looking quite promising for the future of windows games under Linux. I mean a native port would be nice but I don't think any of these devs would do that even if they released it officially for Linux (they would just redirect rendering calls just like how wine projects are).

As for what game Feral should port next..... well give us a list of the developers who have said maybe! it seems to me that only VERY FEW developers are even open to the idea of their games on Linux which leaves a very limited unknown selection for us to choose from. I've always said we need CLASSIC and POPULAR AAA titles on Linux, either all.

If GTA5 got a linux release, it would be earth shattering indeed, but as we have found out over the years, some developers are very hostile towards linux, even when someone else is doing most the work for them...

Do you know what "very hostile" actually means ;)? There is a big difference between that and "don't care" or "seeing no point". This "if you are not my friend then you must be my enemy" attitude really serves no one.

Quoting: lucifertdarkTotal War Warhammer 2, why? because it's Warhammer, do you really need any other reasons?

Whatever game they choose next to port I hope it's one I DON'T already own.

TW Warhammer 2 would be my no. 1 request, I'm really enjoying the first game and surely it would be more straightforward to port it than some other games as the groundwork has already been done for the first game. I'm really hoping Feral release the sequel this year, I would really like to play as the Tomb Kings, Lizardmen and Skaven.

Dark Souls and Rise of the Tomb Raider. They are two series of games that I'd love to play it on my favourite OS.

My choices are Rise of the Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy XII, which should be available on Steam at the beginning of February :)
