For those that have read us for some time you will probably know I am a big space sci-fi fan, so J.U.L.I.A.: Among the Stars ticks literally every single box for me. Here's my thoughts on the soon to be released Linux version.

J.U.L.I.A.: Among the Stars was funded on Indiegogo and even though they didn't hit the goal for Linux they still decided to bring it to our platform, and we have been lucky enough to be able to give it a run.

J.U.L.I.A.: Among the Stars is a remake of their original game "J.U.L.I.A" that was released in 2012, but with some different game-play and a changed story.

From the moment I loaded it up the game hooked me right in with the beautiful visuals of our space probe, and the visuals inside were just as beautiful. It's one thing to make a space sci-fi game, but to make one that actually looks the part isn't easy on small budgets, but the guys at CBE Software pulled it off on this one.

The game blends beautiful cut-scenes which are seriously well done and keep impressing me as I move forward in the story, interesting puzzles which have you solving issues right from the start and even parts of a hidden object adventure game to create one seriously interesting mix. The hidden object side of it isn't difficult though, as you have access to ping the locations on the map to stop you hunting for hours. It's more about piecing the story together, and it does work.

I don't often play games like it due to the amount of reading and remembering needed, but J.U.L.I.A.: Among the Stars just flows so well that it keeps me interested.
It does require a bit of reading and thinking, so those looking for a quick blast should look away now. This game really is for adventure fans who like to piece parts of a story together.

I don't wish to give away too much, so I will leave the rest to you!

I highly recommend checking it out as I very much enjoyed playing it. Grab a copy of J.U.L.I.A.: Among the Stars from Steam now. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

This looks excellent! Love the idea of a sci-fi adventure game, it's perfect for the genre.

I've added it to my wish list and I'll pick it up once I finish a couple more adventure games which I haven't played yet.

The Studio seems to be from the Czech Republic - I'm almost considering missing it out in GOL World Tour because there are just so many great games coming out from the country that it would have to be like 3 pages long. Has to be the highest game-to-population ratio of anywhere in the world!

There is something about it that piques my interest but historically I struggle to keep interested in point and click adventures. It looks very pretty. Would love to see a GOL cast of this to get a good idea of it. I've added it to my wish list to track it.

Love your world tour articles, keep up the good work and it's completely understandable that you can't include every dev from every country.

On wishlist now.

I like a science fiction setting too, although I can't get that deep into games where it's all spaceships and no characters. I'd rather get something more immediate like this or say, The Fall or Primordia.

The Fall and Primordia are both very good. The former is already available for Linux and the latter has a Linux build in testing.

Quoteit's completely understandable that you can't include every dev from every country.

I know people wouldn't mind if I missed some out, but the whole point is to look at the industry as a whole and showcase all the devs, so it would be a real shame to miss stuff out just because it takes a long time - I'd feel kinda bad for those devs I wasn't able to do.

I think if I do it I'll tackle The Czech Republic over time, making a list of all the developers and their games, then put it all together over a weekend. Plus historically and culturally, there's so much to talk about - I could write an entire article on Prague alone, it's probably the most beautiful city in Europe.

I've played 4 hours of it over the past couple days. I'm really enjoying it. Didn't know what to expect when I bought it; the screenshots sold me, basically... I was thinking it'd be like Myst, but it's more like one of the CSI games, kinda. I like it, anyhow.
