Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth [Steam], a video game adaption of a book sharing the same name will release on August 15th by Daedalic Entertainment and it will have day-1 Linux support.

Check out the previous teaser the put up:

I haven't ever read the book and honestly, I had never heard of it until this was announced a while back. Still, it sounds exciting and I do enjoy a good interactive adventure. For those who have read it before, you will be pleased to know that you can change the events of it and influence the fates of its characters.

For us Linux PC gamers, it seems it will be a Steam-only release, no GOG.

More about the game
QuoteBased on Ken Follett's world-bestseller, ‘The Pillars of the Earth’ retells the story of the village of Kingsbridge in a whole new interactive way. Play as Jack, Aliena and Philip and change the events of the book through exploration, decision-making and dialogues. This interactive novel is released in three 'books', containing 7 chapters each. This season pass includes access to all three books, which will be automatically added to your Steam library on the date of release.

12th century, England: In a time of great poverty and war, a small town begins the construction of a cathedral to claim wealth and security for its people. In their struggle to survive, lives and destinies intertwine. Philip the monk becomes prior of the small abbey of Kingsbridge. At the same time, a boy called Jack is raised in the woods by his outlawed mother. His apprenticeship as a stonemason paves his way to become a gifted master builder. Together with the disgraced noblewoman Aliena, Jack and Philip begin the construction of one of the greatest cathedrals England will ever see.

It wasn't a bad book I thought. It's a good mix of fiction based on facts. There was also a tv series, for those not keen on reading

Didn't enjoy the book, but then I read it when I was done with the song of ice and fire and probably expected to much.

Didn;t read the book or see the series.

I guess my expectations of this game will be neutral.

I've read both books and they're really good. Both series were terrible in my opinion since the characters didn't match the original ones. I can't wait to try out the game!

Still keeping an eye on this. I've had mixed results with Daedalic but this could be pretty good.
