Looks like Dying Light is set to get more free DLC

By - | Views: 14,522

Techland sent out a bit of a teaser today which claims a bunch of new DLC are on the way for Dying Light [Steam].

The teaser wasn't much to go on, but here it is (the link a small Twitter video):

The writing's on the wall... we're continuing supporting #DyingLight with 10 free pieces of DLC over 12 months. pic.twitter.com/A93hmevbfT

10 new DLC packs coming to Dying Light, that's quite a lot. Considering the amount of them, I don't expect them to be all that big. It's good to know they're still updating it though, with recent patches that fix up some lingering issues in this Linux version and now new DLC. Even better that they will be free!

I have 60 hours in the game and for the most part I've loved it. I'm still gradually going through the 'The Following' expansion, which is absolutely huge so it's taking quite a while.

Hopefully soon myself and Sin will continue our livestreams of Hard Mode, stay tuned!

Quoting: razing32Ok , two things :

1) I am glad others are taking CD Projekt Red's example and releasing free DLC to keep interest in their game alive.

2) Germany ? The heck is happening ? I thought only games with Nazi imagery got banned (for obvious reasons)

nope Germany has very very strong censorship rule anything that features blood and gore for example are rarely released in some games the colour of blood have to be changed into order to get a release.

Nothing new with game censorship in Germany. Some famous examples are Left 4 Dead (1 & 2) and Half Life (you can only buy censored versions in Germany). Fun fact: The board game Risk was (is?) also censored. E.g. "conquering" is replaced with "freeing".

Free DLC is nice and all. I just wish they'd improve performance. Running a 750 Ti at minimum settings (except resolution. I set that to 1080p) and I can't even hit 30 FPS in the tower.

The obvious reason being a pathetic attempt at hiding their shameful history from public view. Remember nazi in game are always the villans so there is no chance of the game glorifying it :P

Sorry but have to disagree.
I met germans and I think they apologize too much.
What the Nazis did was a horrible atrocity , but I don;t think Germany today is Germany then.
How many horrible things were done in Europe , Africa , Asia since then yet Germany is held up as the example for human wrong doing. Doesn't seem fair in my mind.

True indeed. I don't feel like begging on my knees for things that happened ages ago. Obviously it's important not to forget what happened, but I guess the best we can do is fighting this kind of things never, ever to happen again. Just like right now with the party called AFD ("Alternative für Deutschland" ) which attracted a lot of right-wing totalitarianisms and neo nazis.

So in the end life is about moving on, learn from the mistakes of the past and try to avoid them. Never get stuck in mind in the past!

PS: Yes, this kind of censorship sucks.

I'm not saying blame Germans today for what happened then, I'm saying censoring media because they contain bits of history your not proud of is a dangerous and slippery slope. Instead own up to it, tech that it's bad and *why* it's bad.

OK , that's more clear I guess.
And I agree.

They/We do. Germans are taught about Nazi Germany in school. It's just that Nazi symbols are forbidden unless they're for educational purpose.

And this is what I never understood.
For example movies have an educational purpose the same way as a game could have.
The Nazi Symols in movies aren't censored in germany.
But in general they're unconstitutionally and chargeble. So why is that?

Movies that handle the german history serve the art and games aren't subordinated to art yet officially.

Furthermore games are interactive and movies not! Sounds stupid right?

That's the official justification in germany.
