Maia Is Another Early Access Game That's In Good Standing

Worry not readers early access isn't all doom and gloom. Maia's developer Simon Roth has created a blog post letting us all know just how healthy the game development is right now.

QuoteAt our current burn rate, running off cash reserves, with no further sales of the game, development can easily continue for about five years. That said, current development has a few bottlenecks I would like to hammer out of the pipeline, which will push up costs by a few thousand.

It's really great to see more developers talk about their finances openly like this, as it really helps to build trust with your gamer audience. I hope more early access developers make posts like this to address concerns from their supporters.

Official About
Maia is a colony building game set in the not-so-distant future. Your colonists make planetfall on a hostile world and you must ensure their survival and their safety, constructing their off-world habitat from almost nothing and sheltering them from a dangerous, often deadly environment.

I've played around with Maia and it has the basics there to make a quality game, so it I look forward to seeing how it progresses with great interesting. You should all known by now how much I like space sci-fi stuff.

Now, be a good little gamer and go pick up a copy of Maia. Watch out for space chickens. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I agree, It's not just been limited to us linux people either I have seen some bad press on early access/crowdfunding game in quite a few places lately. Those that really do need the business model in order to make the games they want are going to HAVE to start being extremely transparent about things in order to rebuild some trust with the gaming community. So good job Simon Roth.

I live for worlds, lore, and story lines. That's just my interest. Open world and sandboxes aren't really my thing, although I would think that people who are into that will really like this, because it looks great!

And congratulations to the dev team for actually communicating with their supporters!

I broke down during the last sale and actually bought it. Not because it was playable or I wanted to be a tester, but because I wanted to help support what looked like a great project. And indeed, the dev is really hands-on with the community and making regular updates which is great to see.

Hopefully the next update will take us closer to actual playability. It's getting close.

This looks pretty awesome even this early. I'll have to wait a few days before I can afford it, but it certainly looks tantalizing.
