Mighty No. 9 delayed for Linux

Sad news folks, no Mighty No. 9 release today for us Linux gamers as it has been delayed by a few days.

QuoteThe Mac/Linux Steam builds of the game are also in final testing by Deep Silver. These two versions of the game should be ready within a few days as well. We will keep our backers updated as the situation evolves.

No need for pitchforks yet folks, as they are at least being open about it. It doesn't sound like it will be too long, so hopefully it will be worth the wait. If it's just a few days it could just be some minor polishing that needs to be sorted out.

I know both Ethan Lee and Aaron from Knockout Games have worked on it, so they have at least had some Linux friendly developers put work into it. I spoke to Aaron on twitter and he said this:

@thenaughtysquid @josesintilde @flibitijibibo there are always thing to fix etc. working on compat issues, but the game runs on Mac+Linux.

It working is a good sign.

Will update you when I have more on this.

As for how it's being reviewed: It's not looking good overall. The developer even said during a livestream that it's "better than nothing" apparently.

Nice to know they are working on bringing this to our system. It also seems like they have some good porters working on it. If the reviews turn out to be good, I'm gonna have to give this one a try.

It seems that you have missed all the backlash and bad/average reviews. This game isn't good to say the least and Inafunes response was just "At least it's better than nothing" :'D

This game has been ridiculed over its 4m budget with little to offer in terms of gameplay/content. Be careful before buying.

Let's hope Deep Silver will support this one post-release..

Presumably they'll release before Rocket league.

It's a retro game, but I get the impression that it wouldn't have been considered good even in the early 90s.

I love Mega Man and what I understand from Inafune's "better than nothing" is that Capcom isn't capable of releasing a new Mega Man game, but Comcept is at least trying. Hopefully they will listen to gamers' feedback and fix the game!

Pretty tired of seeing these announcements and not being surprised... Still, it's only a few days, and I don't have the money to buy it anyway, so not much room for complaints.

So they have it listed as Linux supported on Steam but the game is not available on Linux? Just another great decision on their history of great decisions regarding this game.

Might as well just fire up my emulator.....

Who am I kidding, I'm probably still going to buy it eventually. However: so glad I didn't Kickstart this. :D Suckas.....
