Mighty No. 9 delayed for Linux

Sad news folks, no Mighty No. 9 release today for us Linux gamers as it has been delayed by a few days.

QuoteThe Mac/Linux Steam builds of the game are also in final testing by Deep Silver. These two versions of the game should be ready within a few days as well. We will keep our backers updated as the situation evolves.

No need for pitchforks yet folks, as they are at least being open about it. It doesn't sound like it will be too long, so hopefully it will be worth the wait. If it's just a few days it could just be some minor polishing that needs to be sorted out.

I know both Ethan Lee and Aaron from Knockout Games have worked on it, so they have at least had some Linux friendly developers put work into it. I spoke to Aaron on twitter and he said this:

@thenaughtysquid @josesintilde @flibitijibibo there are always thing to fix etc. working on compat issues, but the game runs on Mac+Linux.

It working is a good sign.

Will update you when I have more on this.

As for how it's being reviewed: It's not looking good overall. The developer even said during a livestream that it's "better than nothing" apparently.

This won't flop, they gotta fix it. It has been far too long to give up on it now. I think they were short on time and released it with poorer mechanics than they were shooting for, and they will probably make it better in time.

I wonder. Would this be a decent game if you've never played Megaman and weren't a part of the Kickstarter drama?

Personnaly I will wait for a good discount to buy it but I will for sure.

Unless it is broken, I can't see why it couldn't be minimaly enjoyable. I'm no hardcore gamer.

Lately I played Megaman on my rpi (Recalbox)... Didn't had as much fun than I did on my NES, at the time. I'm not 8 years old anymore either... Maybe, for some, the problem lies there.

Edit: typo.

Oh well, I've waited this long. Not like this game is getting rave reviews anyway.

I haven't played MM since number 3 or maybe 4 on the NES. I wasn't part of the KS drama. I'll be giving it a go once released. I'm a little confused by the reviews. Some are saying its too easy, Jim Sterling said its frustratingly hard.

Quoting: mulletdeathPretty tired of seeing these announcements and not being surprised... Still, it's only a few days, and I don't have the money to buy it anyway, so not much room for complaints.
Development is full of unexpected hurdles. Expect everything to be late... EVERYTHING!! Valve Standard Time is the only real schedule any company can abide to.

Make your enemies cry like a Linux-fan on release day.

I hope all the reviews are just backlash from all the delays. As someone who grew up with megaman it was sad to see it stumble in the later generations.

My hopes were this would be the spiritual successor that brought the game closer to its roots while updating the graphics and gameplay.

Now I'm hesitant about whether I should be anticipating this formal release.
