A developer of Mount & Blade: Warband has confirmed the port on their Steam forum and confirmed it will be a native port too. This is after the hints from SteamDB pointing towards it being possibly.

QuoteIt'll be a native port for Linux and Mac. Warband only but we'll try to include Napoleon DLC too. Open beta will be next week and full release will be July, if all goes well.

Check it out on Steam, but we always recommend waiting for the Linux version to buy it. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

After reading all the reviews on this game, I'm psyched! As soon as it shows a linux version, I'm getting this bad boy!

I wonder if we buy it now on special we'll certainly count as a "windows install" even though bought on Linux client, but long term surely they'd have metrics to see who bought it via Linux client and playing it on Linux.

I agree its best to buy a game when theres a Linux version out so we know they've actually done the work and not conned us, but damn... there is afterall a sale on :D.

Otoh, good to support these guys with maximum revenue, but I don't know about you lot but I'm struggling to keep up with the number of Linux games on our platform now, up to about 185 now and they keep coming which is both :) and :( (for wallet + time reasons).

I bought it as Gift on Linux machine with 80% off flash sale.
I'll redeem it when linux version will be available.

Bought it some time last year on sale for Windows, so, as far as Steam is concerned, I own it. I'll be looking for the Linux version. It is a good game. No, it's not Witcher 2, X-COM or CIV V, but it's a good game nonetheless.

Can't be as horrible a port as Witcher 2!

You want to see a lousy port, look at Eador:Masters of the Broken World, which shipped with a plain wine wrapper. It doesn't run at all for many, and, for those for which it does run, graphical glitches galore. Witcher 2 is a joy to play in comparison.
