After many years of floating through space on the back of a missile, following a successful career in beating people up for not playing Sega Saturn, the missile returned to earth. Upon returning, I discovered to my dismay that the once great console had been discontinued and Sega had abandoned the fight to dominate the world through 32-bit graphical capabilities.

After spending some years breaking breeze blocks with my head for money and being mocked by strangers, I have found a new purpose: to beat up people for not playing on Linux.

QuoteGames using Wine wrappers (such as The Witcher 2) do not count as Wine games since they are categorised as Linux on digital distribution platforms.

Witcher 2 doesn't use a Wine wrapper/bottle/whatever.

People can define Steam Machines however they want, it's pretty ambiguous, especially to us Linux users.

Personally, I'd call it a PC running SteamOS or SteamOS session. Equally it could be defined as a Linux machine hooked up to a TV instead of a monitor or a Linux PC which uses controllers as the primary input.

Valve is shooting themselves in the foot by not producing their own Steam Machine and marketing it like there's no tomorrow. Beyond it being Linux, Steam as a console OS is their brand identity. They should not put that in the hands of random PC makers.

I will probably buy one in the future, although I got tired of waiting and built my own gaming rig for now. I'm also very eager to finally get a Steam controller.

That's way too liberal. It's not a Steam Machine unless it's primarily used to play games on Steam. I've got a gaming/media PC hooked up to the TV in our living room, running XBMC/Kodi and games on Mint, occasionally Steam as well, more often than not controlled with a gamepad, but it's sure as hell not a Steam Machine.
