New RPG development tool

By - | Views: 4,537
After 5 years in development, I am proud to announce that my son has posted the initial release of OpenRPG Maker. Development on the editor is over 90% feature complete, and game engine development is currently under way, with incremental releases coming soon.

Please give it a try, and post positive/constructive feedback in the sourceforge forum, thanks.

Greets!

I'm looking forward to trying Open RPG Maker. It looks like a cool program. A couple of notes:

I tried signing up for the forum, but I haven't gotten the email yet. I checked my spam folder, but it's not in there either. You might want to look into that. :)
I run OpenGameArt.org, which is an archive of art and music for open source games. We recently ran a contest called the Liberated Pixel Cup, where we had people make 32x32 tile based RPG graphics, which I'd encourage you to include with the program:

You might also check out some of the music we have too. The only thing I'd advise you about our art is to make sure you include a credits file with it. I can help you with that if need be.

Anyway, keep up the good work! :)

Apparently sourceforge is moving to a new system and we are on the classic hosted apps. We are working to resolve these issues as fast as possible.

I pointed Justin (the creator) to OpenGameArt.org. Not sure he has had time to fully look through it before release. He plans on getting a few more features finished in the editor and then he will create a tutorial. He will likely be looking to OpenGameArt.org for artwork at that time. OpenRPG Maker should be able to handle those just fine.
