Oh my word I do love itch.io and their store app. It's open source (MIT license), it's beautiful and it actually works really well now.
Linux specific fixes:
It has a professional Japanese translation, the ability to pick a download if a game offers multiple options, a better preferences screen, and bug fixes.

Re browsing, see our directory page for a list of all valid filters. You can also append .xml to any of the browser pages to get an Atom feed! I personally recommend browsing by tag to find what you like.
As far as controller support goes, the utility Liam linked to (SC Controller) looks great, but unfortunately Linux-only. We make all our features available on all 3 OSes we support, so we'd probably have to interface with something lower-level instead.
