A little late on this, sorry. Outland is a beautiful looking action platformer where you use the powers of light and dark to save the world!

We waited a while due to many reports of it not working for some, not downloading for others, and a few other issues. It looks like it should download for most of you now, if not all of you. You can see the developers call for feedback on the Linux version on their Steam forum post.

I really struggle to get excited about platformers, but this one was sent in quite a lot. It also have Very Positive reviews on Steam, if you trust Steam reviews that is.

About the game (Official)
Outland is a fast-paced, dynamic platformer where the player uses powers of light and dark in an epic journey to save the world from forces of chaos.

In-between Balance and Chaos stands one man, whose efforts will either bridge the ancient divide or doom the world to destruction. Outland is an ambitious 2D-platformer with a beautiful visual style and a unique, polarity-switching gameplay system. Your adventure will shift between light and darkness as you struggle to adapt in an ever-changing world!

I am on a permanent boycott of the company who made the ubiplay DRM system. A pity. It looked good.

The game was made by a small, Finnish indie game studio called Housemarque, but indeed it seems to be published by Ubisoft. Still, no Uplay here.

PS: How about a sequel for Alien Incident or even a relaunch, Housemarque? Didn't you notice adventure games are back? Please indulge my nostalgia. :P

Albeit the Ubisoft logo, there's no uplay with this game. The game runs great and is beautiful. If someone needs their metroidvania kind of game fix on linux, this is the way to go!

They published the game for PlayStation 3 & Xbox 360, hence the logo. They don't seem to have anything to do with the versions available on Steam which are self published by Housemarque.

I don't blame you, but this game isn't published by Ubisoft on the PC. They just simply own the license to the game. As the developers have stated, the only restrictions they have is not being able to make a sequel to the game:

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have the game on PS3 and it's pretty good. The visuals, the soundtrack, the gameplay, it's all great. Highly recommended!

Outland is one of the weeklong deals on Steam and is currently 75% off. I've played a bit of it, and I love it so far. My only complaint is that you can't rebind keyboard controls, and can only choose between two pre-defined layouts. Neither of which lets you put the action controls on the left side of the keyboard, which makes being able to move with arrow keys pretty pointless.
