Planetary Annihilation is a great game, despite a few flaws here and there. It's my favourite strategy game on Linux, and the news is good.

Speaking publicly on their forum, one of their developers mentioned work this is going on at the moment, and Linux issues were directly mentioned. I probed the developer for some more information about specific Linux fixes:
QuoteLet's see.... we're working on the CSG for Linux issue, missing cursor, playing videos from the main menu, the UI freeze when mousing over the build menu, black screen issues, and the Linux launcher.
If you find any other Linux issues, please post them in the Question for Linux users thread.

Seriously, if you have any Linux issues, please note them in that linked thread.

I actually though it had a Linux launcher already, but since I use Steam it wasn't an issue for me. Since you need to be online for most of it anyway, I didn't really see a need for an outside launcher, but I am sure it will please people who don't trust Steam directly.

If you don't own it, you can grab it for a massive 80% off on Steam right now. I've spent 54 hours playing it according to Steam, and I love it. Article taken from

It's about time. I too, love this game and am extremely happy to hear the remaining issues are getting fixed!

The stuck UI bug is really annoying. The game is not playable, unless you really need that experience to see the AI overruns you and you are not able to command anything anymore.
