Mighty Morgan keep improving their tactical top-down shooter Police Stories, with an update landing last month adding in a Custom Mission mode. See Also: Original thoughts on Police Stories.

While there's a lot to enjoy in the story mode, apart from the cheesy cliché story, being able to mess around and do whatever you want was missing. Police Stories felt like it really needed a mode where you set it up how you want, especially for when you've finished the main campaign. Now it's in, with the Custom Mission mode. Thankfully, it's unlocked right away so you can enjoy practising as much as you want.

You can choose the map, what enemies and what equipment you want and then play as many times as you feel like it. A great addition but what's also sweet is a Quick Play option, which just randomises everything and gets you into a game quick.

Worth picking up? I thought so anyway but now it's an even easier pick. It does have issues like a lack of actual AI for your partner if you're playing alone, with you needing to micro-manage them with orders but overall it's a good shooter. It tries to be different, succeeds in a number of ways with the slower pacing and more tactical options that open up as you unlock more equipment.

I had a lot of fun with it and continue to do so. Sometime later this year it's getting a level editor too, so it's only going to continue getting more fun to play through.

I just picked this one up during the sale.

It looks like it could be quite a good game!
