Reckpunk, A Different Kind Of Platformer Officially Released For Linux

Reckpunk may not look like much graphically, but looks are often deceiving. Reckpunk is one such title as it's a platform where you control the level elements rather than the character for interesting results.

The game has now seen the official release, and it looks pretty wild. One thing to note is that apparently pulseaudio causes a slight audio delay in Reckpunk, so if you check it out then disable pulseaudio for it for an optimal experience. I can't say with pulseaudio I noticed any delay myself, so maybe it's not always an issue. At least ir runs for me now though, as when we covered it before it wouldn't even run.

It's an interesting idea that's for sure and the game is entirely controlled by the mouse. The question remains though - is it any good? Sadly the answer as I found out is that it wasn't to my tastes.

For a game entirely controlled by the mouse the movement feels too twitchy like the acceleration is all over the place, and adjusting the sensitivity did not help.

As for the graphics they really do like like someone squiggled them in a simple paint program. I know graphics don't make a game, but the style just isn't for me.

You can grab it from the developers directly using their Itch.io store widget for as little as $3.42 (~£2.14). You can also find a demo on the Reckpunk Itch.io store page for it to try it out.

Hadn't heard of this game before, so thanks for covering it. It doesn't really look like my cup of tea either, but I'll give the demo a try.

I tried the greenlight demo months ago and yeah, controls were pretty bad. Looks like the dev didn’t improve them. The graphics mostly suck, but I like the music!
