While not usually a fan of many Visual Novels, Red Embrace: Hollywood really does sound quite interesting. Set in 1996 in Los Angeles, you are a newly created Vampire who has to find their place in the world.

Currently on Kickstarter, they've managed to hit quite a bit over their initial goal which is great to see. Showing demand for interesting Visual Novels is still very much there.

It has a Linux demo available right now, which you can find here. A test on Ubuntu 18.10 was promising, with it working rather nicely. However, they're keen to stress it's a heavy work in progress. Alternatively, the demo is also on itch.io and they do also have a Steam page up to follow.

It will have at least 21 different endings, with lots of choices available through the dialogue along with character customisation and NPCs will "remember how you treat them" which might make for some interesting conversations as you progress.

Going to keep an eye on this one, love the setting.

Find it on Kickstarter.

This, pretty much directly after Nighthawks?
Okay...

Okay...

Yeah, it's a a terrible bit(e) of timing.

This one at least does seem different in that there's the whole romance angle and a bit more of a fan-service like feel to the whole thing.

EDIT: Seems I wasn't too far off the mark on that one: "If you're a fan of the obscene, then you'll be happy to know that RE:H will indeed have (optional) adult content." - The Kickstarter page

Yeah, okay, I'm team Randal. Revolutionary, check, and it's probably no secret that I have a thing for beards :P

The protagonist looks like Tommy Wisseau, I'm pretty sure he was hanging out in LA in 1996 too.

Quoting: GuestIf I know VNs, this is a smutty VN targeted at female audiences. If you want a legit good Vampire game, the only one I know would be VTMB. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2600/

Can confirm it runs out of the box on proton, at least with nvidia proprietary drivers. The only bug is that it doesn't scale with 16:9 resolutions normally, the unofficial patch will fix that right up.

The "smut" seems highly optional. From what I can gather, there's a completely "smut"-free optional romance plot in the game and extra "smutt" scenes available as a separate patch/download/free DLC.

What is the patch you're referring to?

Yup, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is still quite undead :)

I had thought you were talking about a patch for Proton.
