Reflex Kickstarter Failed, The Project Will Continue

3 weeks ago, when their Kickstarter campaign started, I wrote an article about this promising Q3/CPMA successor. Even though it has become a hype in the little community Quake has left, it seems to have failed to attract major audience and the campaign has now been cancelled.

That won't stop the development of the game itself though, as Kickstarter was merely their attempt to push this game to release in a shorter timespan by doing full time development.

Immediately after it was cancelled, one of the developers announced Steam Early Access as their next target.

The project has already been greenlit and will now try to attract more people by making it playable as soon as possible. The current Alpha build only runs on Windows though and whether or not Linux is still on their list remains unknown, as it was part of their Kickstarter-costed list.

There's an insane amount of work to do that's higher priority and by remaining part-time, the number of hours we can spend developing drops a whole lot -- that's why we took a shot at Kickstarter in the first place ;)

Funny how it would be almost zero extra word at all if they just put a little thought into making cross platform code from the start.

well that sounds reasonable, I hope that's the case. It's hard to tell since they made their own engine
